I’m presently on a road trip to South Florida.

These are semi free flight macaws in Jungle Island Miami. Two things I noted on my visit today, Harley Macaw is unusually large for a macaw, and his plumage was in better condition than the vast majority of the birds down there.

All of my birds have better feathers than most of the birds down there.

I play Everquest – a lot. A whole lot more than I should, for certain. And, you will on occasion get a bout of high school drama.

I led a raid to kill a famous, but low level dragon. Lady Vox, for those in the know. Anyway, in most ways the raid went well – the dragon died, none of the 17 or so people killing her died, and nobody fell into the pits to get eaten by bears.

About 5 items “dropped”…. i.e, were available to be rolled on by those attending.

One guy won a roll on a melee haste belt. Well, the next day, he has the belt up for sale on his trader in the bazaar. This sent the server into a tizzy. Its a small server – very small. The smallest by far, of the EQ servers.

I was the only one to side with him. He won it, he should be able to do what he wants with it. Well nooooooooo, the belt should go to someone who would actively use it. /shrugs

To keep from being blacklisted, the guy is wearing the belt, and will be wearing it for quite a while. Absurd? Yeah, yeah it is. But the stereotypes of online gamers have a huge degree of truth to them.

No real point to this post, actually.

Hyacinth Macaw

This isn’t my picture – but right after Christmas, I’m going to Jungle Island in Miami. I’ve been wanting to go for YEARS. This is one of the best Hyacinth macaw pictures I think I’ve seen, and it was taken at Jungle Island. Its also an open CC license, so I can post it here for a bit of color.

You know, I wonder how many parrot people, and non parrot people, run into problems with Hyacinths because it looks like they are always smiling? While they are well known for their sweet temperaments, they are still macaws…. and on occasion, they will be bratty.

My new Element

Earlier this year, I bought a new 2008 Honda Element, replacing my 1996 Honda Accord. I had bought the Honda Accord new, and driven it for 290,000 miles. This picture is of my Element, which I’ve been pleased with. Its not as good of a vehicle as the Accord was, but its a good car.
