Parsing out the true libertarians

May28

The FLDS is one of those litmus tests by which you can separate true libertarians (who believe that rights apply to ALL individuals) from those who believe rights apply only to the nice people of the world. You know, OUR sort.

Taken from Wendy Mcelroy, an individualist feminist, and anarchist.

Wildlife

May27

A kingsnake was hanging around today. I didn’t get a good look at it, but it wasn’t that long. Maybe 2-3 feet. Still, that will help keep poison snakes away.

I’ve got a couple of pictures on my Flickr site of a young toad who is much smaller than a penny. Those were taken Saturday night.

I also watched a Pileated woodpecker off my back deck this morning. I love those birds.

He was an editor on the Thieves World books, wrote the Myth series (with Skeeve and Aahz), and a host of other books.

He will be missed.

Court rules taking of FLDS polygamist kids was illegal

May22

Man, this is a relief. This was literally making me sick, to see such blatant government abuse.

The actual verdict is here.

Why don’t news stories link to the court opinions? I find them fascinating reading.

WooooooHoooooooo! Harley flew!!!!

May21

Harley Macaw flew 15-20 feet today, after being startled by my sister!

This is the first time he’s flown in at least four years!

I didn’t think he could fly.

Damn, this makes me feel good.

Gwyneth Paltrow Bares a Breast in Film

I didn’t find her attractive until I saw Iron Man – she’s an attractive woman.

Simple observations

May16

My boss and his entire family are going to see Duran Duran in concert tomorrow night. I’ll bet that when Duran Duran were at the height of their fame, way back when, that they never thought that one day, they would be doing a tour for their fans and their families. Growing up sneaks up on you.

I was trying to get my dad to handle Harley today, and he wouldn’t. He’s genuinely scared of the big feathered coward. I didn’t expect that. I know my mother and sister are, but they have a long running fear of birds, both of them. This sucks, because having someone who could handle Harley (besides Kristin) would be useful.

Kiwi Portrait – Aka Ninja Parrot

May4

Kiwi Portrait

I’m just adding some color. Its been a bit since I linked a photo. This is Kiwi, my Ninja parrot. She was sitting on my shoulder when I took this, and its sheer luck that the photo turned out as well as it did.

Best not to ask

May4

Harley macaw has been under the playstand table (which is covered in a floor length table cloth) for about 30 minutes now. There is chuckling, clanking, and mumbling periodically coming from under there. Its probably best that I not look into it too closely.
